Description
This map shows the boundaries of the Pejepscot Proprietors land claim. The company was formed in 1714, when 8 Boston merchants purchased the land from the estate of Richard Wharton. The large and often vague claim includes lands in what is today Brunswick, Freeport, Topsham, Lewiston, Harpswell, and North Yarmouth. This plan was exhibited in the secretary's office, corresponding with the deeds of the company.
