Description
The Sandpaper Mill in Hallowell was owned by Ben Tenney. Before his takeover, much of it used to be a slate mill supplying items to the local schools. At one point, he even tried replacing the quartz in his sandpaper with flint, which ended up being a failure. The mill was strategically placed adjacent to the railroad on lower Greenville Street, making shipping very easy.
