Description
The Vaughan Wood's Dam was erected to supply power to the Hallowell Wire Mill that was built in 1870. The Hallowell Wire Mill was converted to an isinglass factory in the mid 1880s by Benjamin Tenney. The first electricity in the area was generated at the mill in 1887. Stones from the dam were used to construct the "Arch Bridge" after the Vaughan Family bought back the property in 1930.
