Description
John William Channing (1830-) was a painter who served in the Civil War from August 21, 1861 to September 5, 1864. This Army of the Potomac document lists the battles in which he fought and has a photograph of him at the bottom.
He served with the 7th Regiment Maine volunteers and the 1st Battalion Maine sharpshooters.
