Description
In 1949 Lubec native Sherman Denbow bought the Forewinds House on Main Street. The property extended to the shore of Johnson Bay, where Denbow added a factory and warehouse alongside an existing smoked herring facility. His company canned cat food including the Kalico Kat brand for for National Pet Foods, Inc., of Marcellus New York. Denbow died in 1963.
