Description
Hannibal Hamlin (1809-1891) born in Paris Hill, served as Vice President during Abraham Lincoln's first term.
Hamlin, who practiced law in Hampden, served in the U.S. Senate from 1848-1861 and from 1869-1881. He served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1843-1847 and as governor of Maine in 1857.
He served in the Maine House of Representatives before going to Washington.
