Description

Handwrtten on back in blue pencil, “Taken in Portland after Comm. (?) Convention where he was a candidate.”
An article in the Bangor Daily News on June 22, 1936 writes that on "the first day of his 89th year (June 20), with 60 years of active practice behind him, he backed his car out of the garage and rolled away to attend outside calls...he has apparently followed the same advice that he has given his patients, some of whom are older than himself, as his health has been excellent...He is probably the only physician in Maine who has attended a President of the United States (Franklin D. Roosevelt), a president's wife, and son. "
