Description
This woodcut depicts the wreck of the Bohemian as seen the morning after off the coast of Cape Elizabeth, February 1864.
The ship hit ledge -- Alden Rock -- off Cape Elizabeth. Forty-two people drowned; most were emigrating from Ireland.
The image was printed in Harper's Weekly on March 12, 1864.
