Description
This church was located on the west side of South Lubec Road at approximately street number 421. The view looks north along South Lubec Road. “The initiatory meeting for the formation of the Church of the Disciples” occurred on April 1, 1878, the first entry in a ledger named Church Book. The first pastor was Rev. Andrew Linkletter. Disciples of Christ incorporation papers are dated May 30, 1893. The warranty deed for the property dated August 31, 1893 names the corporation as “Disciples Church of South Lubec.” A letter dated December 8, 1938 is signed South Lubec Christian Church. A contract renewal letter to Rev. C. Watterworth dated April 10, 1939 (annual salary $260) the signed South Lubec Church of Christ.
