Description
This view of the "Sparkplug," the Lubec Channel Light, was taken from a low-flying aircraft and shows Lubec village in the background.
The halftone reproduction severely reduces fine detail, but it is possible to make out the old Lubec High School building (1915-1978) near the left edge. The old water tower above American Can Company appears about 40 percent in from the left edge of the image.
The lack of a bridge to Campobello signifies that the photograph could not have been taken after 1961.
Printed on the rear of card is, "LUBEC CHANNEL LIGHT Established in 1890 - On west wide of Channel Lat.44 50.5 North, Long. 66 58.7 West Most Easterly Light House in the U.S.A. Lubec and Campobello Island beyond in Maine and New Brunswick respectively with the exception of West Quoddy Head Light."
