Description
Apparently this passenger vessel, owned by the Clyde Steamship Company, was used on the Eastern Steam Ship Company’s Portland-Lubec-Campobello route only rarely. The Consolidated Steamship Company was formed in January 1907 as a holding company for Metropolitan, Eastern, and Clyde Steamship Companies. It seems reasonable to assume that the Huron called on Lubec in 1907 between the January consolidation and later that year when divided back post cards superceded the undivided back style previously mandated by the Postal Service.
Statistical data have not been located for this ship. The vessel should not be confused with a two-stacked 1896 German ship commandeered during World War I and renamed U.S.S. Huron.
