Description

Memorial Hall, the first college building to be dedicated in honor of the Civil War, was home to the library on the old Colby College campus on College Avenue in Waterville. Built in 1867, Memorial Hall also housed the campus's chapel and an alumni room. The rubblestone used to build the Hall was quarried a mile west of campus. When Colby moved to Mayflower Hill and no one would buy nor could anyone raise the funds to save the building, it was razed in 1966.
