Description
The pelican tool was used to extract teeth. This tool was part of the collection of Dr. William Marrett of Westbrook, who began practicing dentistry in 1832.
This tool is of a 1650 pattern, and may be a reproduction. During Dr. Marrett's practice, the pelican was not the instrument of choice for tooth extraction; rather, the tooth key was used most widely.
