Description
Daniel Mahoney of Augusta enlisted as a private in Co. G of the 19th Maine Infantry Regiment in September 1862. He gave his age as 18, but he was really only 16 years old.
He was the son of Timothy and Mary Mahoney. His father was an Irish immigrant.
Daniel Mahoney's brother, John, served in the 7th Maine during the Civil War.
Records indicate he was taken prisoner. Mahoney served until May 31, 1865. He died on April 11, 1879 at age 32.
