Description
This hand-stitched quilt pieced together in 1885-1886 was made by a women's group at the Second Parish Church in Portland.
It was made to be raffled off as a fund-raiser, and the names of persons who bought chances to win the quilt are written on the squares. Quotations from the Bible, "Longfellow Monument," "Queen Victoria" and "1885-1886" are also written on the quilt.
