Sardine Factory B and Johnson Bay, Lubec, ca. 1950, ca. 1950

Contributed by Lubec Historical Society

Description

Approximately north-northwest from the belfry of the Congregational Church one views Factory B, later the Booth fish packing plant. This building housed the last sardine packing factory in Lubec, closing in 2001. As of 2011 it housed an extended tourist facility under the aegis of Victor and Judy Trafford. In this photograph note the many narrow one and one-half story “sardine houses” for factory workers.

This is #4 in a series of twelve photos taken from the top of the Congregational Church.
