Overview of Pike House and other residences, Lubec, ca. 1950

Contributed by Lubec Historical Society

Description

Looking south-southwest from the belfry of the Congregational Church one sees the Pike house in the foreground at 36 School Street. Built about 1849 by Harold Harmon, the house passed into ownership of Horace Hamilton who married Mary Harmon. In 1935 Alger and Ann Crane Pike bought the house and raised children Jake, Carol and Penny. Pike completed major renovations without changing the footprint of the house. The renovations included the addition of a second floor over the kitchen wing, the re-orientation of the main entrance from the narrows side of the house to School Street, and the addition of modern conveniences.

Ralf and Jennifer Multhopp acquired the house in 2003.

Progressively to the back are additional residences, the Lubec waterfront, the Lubec Channel (also known as the Lubec Narrows), and Campobello Island.
This is #10 in a series of twelve photos.
