Description
When this photo was taken in 1896, the stone bridge was part of the grounds of the Abbott School, known locally as "Little Blue" School. The nickname derived from the school's man-made hill that mimicked nearby Mt. Blue. The site of the Abbott School was acquired in 1968 by Farmington State Teachers College, now University of Maine at Farmington. In 1979, the Alumni Association raised funds to renovate the grounds, including the granite bridges and Rollo Pond. The site was officially named Abbott Park in 1984.
