St. Andre's School, Biddeford, ca. 1930

Description

St. Andre's Parochial school was located at Sullivan Street Biddeford. The school was built in 1925 for St. Andre's Parish children. and was staffed with brothers and nuns. Before the building of the school in 1901, the Brothers of Sacred Heart were teaching in various houses and in 1904 the Nuns of Presentation de Marie were called to teach and joined the brothers in educating the children.

They taught Religion, Reading, Writing, and Arithmatic. Some of the schoolchildren can be seen at the bottom left of the photograph.
The school was closed in 1992 the building was transformed into apartments for senior ctizens in 1998.
