Description
Edmund N. Davis of Newfield, a private in Co. G of the 1st Maine Heavy Artillery Regiment, wrote to the agent of the Maine Agency Sanitary Commission from Wolf Hospital in Alexandria asking to be paid his bounty. He wrote, "My famaley wants it very Much."
Davis was 44 when he enlisted on December 21, 1863. He was mustered out on April 21, 1865.
