Description
An overhead view of the Maine Turnpike rest area and service station in Kennebunk shortly after its construction. The caption reads, "Kennebunk, midway on the Maine Turnpike." The Maine Turnpike was so popular after its opening in late 1947 that construction efforts to lengthen and build up the highway were underway almost immediately.
The Tichnor Brothers printing company published this type of postcard from about 1930-1945.
