Description
This Tichnor Brothers postcard shows the Penobscot Exchange Hotel in Bangor as it looked around 1935. The hotel was built in 1827 by Zadock French. According to an early 1900s ad, the hotel had 150 rooms, an elevator, and a garage. The Exchange never had the prestige of Bangor House, which was a common stop for celebrities including Liberace and Amelia Earhart.
The caption reads, "Penobscot Exchange Hotel, Bangor, Maine."
