Description

This Tichnor Brothers postcard depicts Market Square in downtown Bangor as it looked around 1935. The W.T. Grant department store is the focal point of the postcard. Before traffic lights, John "Mittens" Burke had to manage the traffic from an elevated booth. Over the years many of the buildings have been renovated and as of 2013, Market Square is still an active part of the downtown Bangor.

The caption reads, "Market Square, Bangor, Maine"
