Description
The caption reads, "Hotel Harrison, on beautiful Long Lake, Harrison, Maine."
Built in 1906, the hotel first was owned by a syndicate headed by F. H. Ricker and John C. Edgerly. In the 1920s, the management group transferred the property to Mr. Edgerly. In 1925, the hotel was sold to Joseph Pitts and his son Hartley. Daniel and Amos Kaplan owned the property before it was sold for the last time to Benjamin Wax, whose uncertain health necessitated its closing in 1964. The hotel accommodated about 100 guests. It was torn down in 1964. (Portland Press Herald, 2 Feb 1964).
The Tichnor Brothers printing company published this type of postcard circa 1938.
