Description
Lt. Col. William S. Mudgett, a native of Stockton who served with the 80th U.S. Colored Troops, ordered the convening of a board of survey to report on a discrepancy between invoice and amount in a shipment of clothing received by Lt. Charles Bridges, a Castine native who was the regimental quartermaster.
John H. Rodgers, military store keeper at New Orleans, had sent the shipment.
