Description
A lithograph entitled "View of Portland, Me. from the Cape Elizabeth side" was published by Whitefield & Smith, of New York, in 1848.
On the far left is a bridge connecting Portland to what is now South Portland.
The image was "Drawn from nature by E. Whitefield." Edwin Whitefield (1816-1892) was a British-born artist who specialized in painting landscape views and flowers.
The image shown is a photograph of the lithograph.
