Description
The Sabbathday Lake Shakers and the Ricker family, proprietors of the world famous Poland Spring hotels and the mineral springs, had a relationship going back to the 1790s. The relationship lasted into the 1960s.
This photo of Eldress Prudence Stickney and Sister Ada Cummings was taken in the 1920s at the Ricker's Mansion House, the original inn run by the Rickers. The sisters were there for a winter sale of fancy goods.
