Description
Looking west on the former Dunbar Road, the Dunbar homestead is visible. It formerly sat on the west side of the Augusta Road (Route 201).
The original Dunbar farm dated to the mid-19th century. Owned by Franklin and Mary Dunbar in the early 20th century, it was sold by their heirs to Norman & Betsey Woodbury, who owned Woodbury's Motor Company auto dealership in Winslow.
In 1995, the farm house and land were taken by eminent domain by the State of Maine for the construction of the Donald V. Carter Memorial Bridge across the Kennebec River.
