Description
The last covered bridge in Winslow during the flood of 1901
The bridge spanned the Sebasticook River just above its confluence with the Kennebec River. This image was taking looking north, with the steel railroad bridge on the left. The collapsed bridge was a pedestrian/driving bridge. It was replaced with, two span, two lane steel girder bridge.
The sign on the bridge entrance read, "Three Dollars Fine For Riding Or Driving On This Bridge Faster Than A Walk".
