Description
Besse High School was dedicated and opened in 1913. It served as the high school for Albion students from 1913 to 1967. After a couple of years serving 7th and 8th graders, all students were bused Lawrence High School in neighboring Fairfield.
Frank L. Besse was the major contributor to building the school. He operated a successful tannery in Albion at the time. In this image, he is seated in the back seat of the Cadillac convertible. The building still stands on present-day Route 137.
