Description
William Haley, Jr. a private in the Maine 30th Regiment, writes from Camp Keyes Hospital in Augusta stating that men are leaving his squad and being sent to the defense of Washington. He writes that they have roll call twice a day and if any are absent they are put in the guard house for 24 hours. Two men in his ward have been drunk and in jail and are being sent to the front.
He is happy to hear that the corn and potato crops on his farm are better than he expected and says he dreamed of being at home a number of times.
