William Haley Jr. letter from New York to his wife Miriam, 1864

Description

Haley writes about his trip from Maine to New York saying that they left Augusta at 12:30 taking a steamboat to Boston arriving the next morning at 7, then leaving at 5:30 that night, taking the train (“cars”) part way and then a boat.

He states, “We have had a good living all the way and there was not any seasick” and asks Miriam to “tell Hannah that I am a going out to Washington and have this business settled up.”
