"William S. Silsby" Ferry, Swan's Island, ca. 1965

Description

A postcard of the Maine State Ferry Vessel William S. Silsby. Bill Silsby was instrumental in helping the island get ferry service. The ferry arrived in 1960 and held 7-8 automobiles. It was later replaced by a 11-12 car ferry and in 1992 a ferry was built that held 16-17 vehicles and was called Captain Henry Lee for the first captain to run the island ferry.
