William Haley Jr. letter to his wife Miriam, Winchester, Va., 1865

Description

In this letter to his wife, Miriam in Sebago, William Haley mentions his camp movements and states that “the boys are in good spirits” and that everyone expects the war is almost over.

He states that he has to feed his horses oats since there is no hay and he describes how the ambulances are outfitted.

He gives Miriam some advice about taking care of the farm oxen’s injured leg and he writes about his new plans for the garden.
