Charles Cole, Co K, 25th ME Infantry, tells his parents that his regiment was expected to leave for Washington, D.C. the next day. They finally got their guns, but "they was old flint lockes altered over" and the Col. refused them. The shoes that were issued Charles were too small and he couldn't swap with anyone, so he sent them home to his brother Horatio.
