Buildings on Water Street in Lubec in 1975 are shown here.
Closest is the John C. Paige Insurance Company (once Maggie McGeorge’s hat shop), then Robert Voight’s Wharf Shop (previously Martin Wilson‘s dry goods), then the Gus Conley (also B & C) Grocery. The red building is Roland Cheney’s Barber Shop. Beyond, across School Street, is George O’s restaurant. Above is a dormered portion of the Merchant’s Hotel. By 2012 all of these buildings are gone except the third of the three adjacent structures, the Save Our Strays Kitty Gift Shop at 65 Water St.
