Description
The U.S. Navy and the Coast Guard operated radio direction finders at 13 coastal locations in the U.S., including Cape Elizabeth before World War II. More were added later.
The stations detected and determined bearings of enemy transmissions and obtained bearings on vessels and aircraft in distress, as well as providing other assistance.
