Description
Miriam Haley writes to her husband, William Haley, Jr. that it is the second of July and she thinks of William's birthday. She reports that their daughter Elzira is going to a Sabbath School celebration with 8 or 9 other schools in Bridgton for July 4th.
She gives him news about the farm: the hoeing is all done, it was too rainy to cut the grass in the tunket field and a fourth lamb was just born. She has sold 100 pounds of butter for 20 cents a pound and has made two cheeses which she wishes he could taste. "But it is no use to wish." She wonders how she would have got along without her cows.
