Description
Miriam Haley reports to her husband, William Haley, Jr. on the heath of their youngest son Billy who has been sick and is learning to talk, “he will try to say most everything that the rest says.” She writes about the health of their friends and neighbors and updates him on the farm and their finances. “About the money you sent I shall be as prudent of it as I can…I shall pay Mr. weed...Silas…pay for the colt and I have not paid Abram all up for the cart that he made…I must pay with my butter.” She names some men who have returned from the war and fills him in on local news including the fact that her sister Elizabeth and her husband William came to visit.
