Description

The Norway High School building pictured in this postcard was built in 1929. The original high school was destroyed by the Great Fire of 1894 and a wooden schoolhouse was rebuilt within the year. When the new high school was constructed next door in 1929, the old building became the Norway Elementary School. The Norway High School closed in 1961, at which time the building became part of the elementary complex of the Guy E. Rowe School.

The caption reads, "Norway High School, Norway, Maine."

The Tichnor Brothers printing company published this type of postcard circa 1930-1945.
