Description
Cutts Island in Saco as it was known. The coal-barge to the right is unloading coal for the cotton mills. Cutts Island was renamed Factory Island (the original name was Indian Island.) It was changed to Cutts Island, after Thomas Cutts purchased, the island from the indians.
This photo was taken from the Laconia division of the Pepperell Mfg. Co. steam plant 251 foot chimney on the Saco river constructed in 1915
