Description
Aside from his roles as community leader and chief salesman, Alfred Shaker Elder Henry was an accomplished woodworker.
Visible in the picture are many oval carriers, which Elder Henry made. His greatest talent, however, was in the area of cabinetry. He made many exquisite secretaries, writing desks and sewing desks, which are still in use today at the Sabbathday Lake community.
The steam boiler was used to power tools in the workshop.
