Description
The Farmington State Normal School "Playschool" was initiated in 1927. The Home Ec Department began the nursery school project as a way for students to observe and work with children between the ages of 2-5 years. Originally it ran on Tuesday and Friday mornings for 6 weeks, and was held in the Cottage. In 1929, it moved to Card Hall, at that time the Junior/Senior dormitory, because it had a living room with a Victrola and piano, and a dining room with toy cupboards. By 1936, the nursery school was in the Home Ec. Annex.
This is a photo of a Home Ec student sharing a book with playschool students in 1940.
