Description
In the late 1930s, Ogunquit was part of the town of Wells but operated as its own village corporation, with the Square downtown serving as the business and shopping district. In addition to serving visitors and residents of Ogunquit Village, the L.A. Graves General Store, depicted in this image, was listed by the Selectmen and Overseers of the Poor repeatedly throughout this period as providing clothing and other supplies to those in need in the town of Wells.
The caption reads, "The Square, Ogunquit, Maine."
The Tichnor Brothers printing company published this type of postcard circa 1938.
