Description
Valerie’s Restaurant opened along U.S. Route 1 in Ogunquit in 1947 under ownership of the husband-and-wife team of “Captain” Constantine Ganellas and Antigone J. Ganellas. Opening in the spring each year and operating throughout the summer months, Valerie’s catered to Ogunquit’s growing volume of summer visitors, offering Greek and American food, a piano bar, nightly dancing and entertainment, and a cocktail lounge. The Ganellas passed along the restaurant to their children, who sold it in 1996.
The caption reads, "Valerie's of Ogunquit, a fine restaurant."
The Tichnor Brothers printing company published this type of postcard circa 1940.
