Description
The Waverly House was one of many hotels that served the tourist community in Old Orchard Beach, though unlike many others, it was open year-round. It offered rooms with hot and cold water as well as cottages. The proprietors advertised that French was spoken at the hotel. The hotel was listed in directories as late as 1959. The site where it was located, on Fernald Street, later became Waverly Condo Rentals.
The caption reads, "The Waverly House. On the surf, Old Orchard Beach, Maine. Open year round, Write for information or Dial 6-2791."
The Tichnor Brothers printing company published this type of postcard circa 1938.
