Description
Frye School on Horton Street in Lewiston was built in 1865 in honor of Senator William Pierce Frye 1831-1911.
Frye was born in Lewiston in 1831. He graduated from Bowdoin College and practiced law in Lewiston and Rockland. He served as mayor of Lewiston from 1865-1866, as a Republican member of the U.S. Congress and a member of the House of Representatives. He also served several terms as Attorney General of Maine
Frye school still stands and is senior citizen housing.
