Description
Pumpkin Knob is a 2-acre privately owned island off the coast of Portland in Casco Bay. While other islands in the bay were frequented by summer visitors in the 20th century, Pumpkin Knob had just one summer residence.
Pumpkin Knob is seen here from the vantage of Peaks Island. In the background lies the larger Long Island, which seceded from the City of Portland in 1993.
The caption reads, "Pumkin Knob and Long Island, From Peaks Island, Maine."
The Tichnor Brothers printing company published this type of postcard circa 1928.
