Description
A Tichnor Brothers postcard of Longfellow's birthplace in Portland from around 1928. Although Henry Wadsworth Longfellow was born here in 1807, he grew up in his grandfather's home on Congress Street. The house was maintained by the International Longfellow Society beginning in 1914, but it was eventually demolished in 1955.
The caption reads, "Birthplace of Longfellow, Portland, Maine."
