Description
A Tichnor Brothers postcard of Portland High School from around 1938. The school, located on Cumberland Avenue, opened in 1863 with a co-ed enrollment of 296. In 1918, due to a significant increase in students, a large addition was built around the original building. The new building was able to accommodate 1300 students.
The caption reads, "High School, Portland, Maine."
